The 1970 Election The Awami League emerged the biggest party in the pakistani parliament, Its was not allowed to form the government by the ruling military janta.Bangabandhu declared at a historic public meeting held at Ramna Race Course (renamed Suhrawardy Uddyan) on 7 March, 1971, attended by around 2 million people, "The struggle this tune is the struggle for freedom, the struggle this tune is the struggle for independence." It was a defacto declaration of independence.
In 1971, 25th march, the Pakistan army embarked on what may be termed as a historical genocide.
Then bangabondhu was arrested and taken to pakistan.But before that he declared the war of liberation.
After that declaration, every people of bangladesh joined in the war.
After the nine months war,the pakistani army surrendered in Dhaka on 16th December in 1971.
But we lost about 30 lac people in that war.
